Identifying Project Networks of Digital Fabrication Process in Construction
Abstract
The new developments of digital fabrication technologies in architecture and construction in the past two decades have shown a promising potential to change the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry which suers from low productivity and digitization level. The new technical requirements of digital fabrication is likely to require a new organizational structure that diers from the existing fragmented organizational structure in the AEC industry. This study seeks to depict the organizational structure of digital fabrication processes and identify their characteristics as compared to the traditional construction processes. This is achieved by conducting a social network analysis to identify the project networks of the case DFAB HOUSE, a building unit realized largely with cutting-edge digital fabrication technologies.
